As per friedge the big thing is the team has to be open to doing that surgery eichel wants. It's done elsewhere just not pro hockey.

 

Zegras should be off the table. Everyone else is probably fair grade. If the Ducks don’t lose Zegras or Drysdale I’ll consider it a win.

That is interesting but makes sense. I’m sure traveling gets old real quick (especially for some teams like Vancouver). I wonder how they felt before (and now after) playing teams in the playoffs for the first time all year in the biggest situations.

I feel like at least the first game of each series for a series where the teams didn’t play in the regular season (COL/VGK, MTL/VGK) is kind of a “figure it out” game for what they want to do. You can watch their games but that’s very different than playing it. But, then again, sometimes you only play a team... 4? 5? times over 82 games before playing in the playoffs so maybe it doesn’t make a difference.

I also wonder what the financial gain would be, or maybe lack thereof after awhile. If the Bruins play the Rangers 8-10 times a season vs what they do right now, will fans keep showing up for games 9 and 10 if they’ve already watched that matchup 5-6 times?

 

Follow up: if anything maybe do more of what baseball does with 2-3 games against a team at a time before traveling to another city. Still cuts down on travel but still let’s every team play each other.
