That stings for the Avs. Better team in game 5 and 6. Dominate Tuesday but 3 turnovers in the back of their net. Dominate tonight and Vegas capitalizes on a few lucky bounces. I don't think the better team won that series but props to Vegas for capitalizing. I think Montreal has a way better chance against them than most think.

Also interesting that some thought Vegas was a huge underdog in this series. I guess that's how the media spun it. Also funny that they are expansion draft exempt despite being one of the best teams in the league since their entry.

So Rask is an FA who turns 35 in March and won’t be ready to play until Februaryish but doesn’t want to play elsewhere and I’m learning that Boston has two goalies under 24 on the roster right now with very limited experience. Yikes.

I wonder who they go after in the off-season.

If your favorite team could scratch your absolute best player and still make the postseason (potentially even win the division), would you complain? Tampa, Colorado, vgk, maybe Pittsburgh can do this. No one else. if we protected panarin, made the playoffs, and he came in...ya I'm down. Could care less about the spirit of the cba or whatever. Every GM should just assume their most expensive player hits the IR when they're looking at deals. Don't be mad at Tampa, be mad at your gm for being a coward. This is the front office version of "the code".

Whatever GMs are gonna complain and this shit will be gone with the next cba.

 

That's so arbitrary. Why one game why not week why not half a season there's no rational basis. Rule should've never existed and no one should get mad when a dumb rule gets circumvented.

 

I don't really care that Tampa took advantage of the rule. They were put in a situation where it made sense. I don't think other GMs are cowards for not doing something similar because not every team is in a win-now window. Carolina, as good as they are, not a win-now team. The core is young a still a couple years away from peaking.

I was more so irritated that we ran into a team that had that advantage + two of our better players going down in the same series. Those circumstances made it very difficult for the Canes and it showed.

Tampa has such a well put together team that they can take advantage of this. Good on them.

You're right it would be much more exciting to watch two teams full of second liners

 

The reason they're so well put together at this stage is literally *because* of this.

 

I'd prefer not to see the same team win the championship two years in a row, this ain't the NBA. Let's go underdogs
