Just realizing the timing of Vegas hiring Gallant as coach... that was about two months before the entry draft, so I would expect Seattle to hire a coach soon right? You would want a coach in place before the expansion draft and entry draft right?

i know drafting is the GM’s job so I guess they could wait and find a coach that fits what the roster turns out to be vs hiring one now and trying to select players that fit around that but idk which way makes better sense

 

I know I’ll prob hate them when the divisions go back to normal next year, but Avs are so fun to watch

I like this format, outside of interleague play. I think the break down of divisions and playoffs works for me. I'd at least keep the playoff format.

It took waaaay too long for the medical and training staff to get on the ice...because the stupid scrum had to be handled with first.

 

You would think they will be announcing a coach here real soon....though with the playoffs still going on I guess they may not want to take anything away from that? Who knows

I know its not a popular take but I still think the Calder trophy rules need to be re-written

 

Ned was first in SV% and GAA for goalies with a minimum of 20 starts. Give him the trophy.

I'm going to get roasted for this but I don't think the Scheifele hit was THAT bad. Yes it was bad and deserves a suspension. But I think those calling for him to be out long term are over exaggerating this. He's going hard to protect an empty net in a one goal playoff game. Yes it's charging based on the rulebook, but what else is he supposed to do? He literally has to close the distance to try and stop the goal. Maybe he could have tried to play the puck but I understand how he thought separating the player from the puck would be more effective. He's just half a second late from stopping the goal. And obviously the result is horrible. I think it's just a very tough situation. Department of player safety seems to agree since it appears to be less than 5 games.

 

I don't know, maybe keep his stick on the ice to actually prevent the puck from going into the net instead of pulling it away so he could hit a defenseless player because he's upset that his team is about to lose the game. Don't be fucking dumb about this. He threw three tantrums earlier in the period and was already frustrated with how the game was going and knew exactly what he was doing on that play. He traveled over 100 feet at top speed and made no effort to play the puck. The only thing that was on his mind was pasting Evans because that would make him feel better in the moment. He is a bad sport with the temperament of a fucking 10 year old who got his toys taken away.

 

i say this without having the moment memorized, but aside from (like you said) focusing more on playing the puck, idk if he had stick down? Because logically if he had his stick down and forward, that would get to the puck / player before his body did. It seemed like Scheifele was more focused on getting to the player than the puck (whether that’s right or wrong idk since I’m sure players have played the player more than the puck many times over the year and seasons) and then seemed to have a dumb “what did I do?” look on his face afterwards which probably didn’t help

 

That’s a fair suspension I think
