I thought that the expansion draft rules were that any first or second year NHL players didn't need to be protected? If that is the case, why do I see people saying Jake Bean on the Canes has to be protected?

 

I don't know what I expected when I googled "protect the bean" but this works.

Learned something on the Steve Dangle podcast (posted before game 7): Marner has 6 playoff penalties and FIVE of them are puck over the glass. And had two of them in the series against Montreal. That’s a crazy stat.

 

I wonder how many espn people were told to start watching games now that espn will be airing games again and highlights will be on sportscenter and such. I know a few probably already were watching games / know the game but I imagine most had to be told to learn at least the basics so they can speak to it at times (not that I’d expect anyone to learn anything from them since that’s not the purpose of espn).

Bean has been in the AHL/NHL since 2018-19. This is his 3rd pro season.

 

Oh shit the draft lottery is tomorrow? I’ve been so focused on the expansion draft I forgot about the lottery coming up so soon. Would be amazing for Seattle to get the #1 pick but not counting on that.

 

Driving home during the game so I'm stuck listening to Esposito mumble incoherently so that's no fun.

It’s not necessary because there isn’t an elite player there like there typically would be, the pandemic messed things up but there’s a lot of really good players in the lottery, just not sure which will be the best. Also, a west team hasn’t won the lottery since mcdavid in 2015 and before that it was only the oilers lol

 

Rod needs to bring back the SAT line for the 3rd period

 

Yeah, I’ve been doing some reading and it seems to be the consensus of maybe 2-3 elite prospects, then some good players and then a big drop off, so not great lol

I’ve also learned that Seattle can’t be worse than 5th so there’s that. I guess I’m mostly looking at it as them getting a high draft pick that can be a quality player in 2-3 seasons. Would be a nice way to start creating the prospect pipeline at least.
