That’s one of the only fun things from last season... there were some good last minute matchups like the BYU vs Coastal game

2021 College Football Power Index | ESPN

ESPN updated their pre-season Football Power Index. Any thoughts?

Iowa State seems a bit high.

    Cincy seems low.

The Ragin' Cajuns and UCF seem low... they're both below teams like Troy and Toledo.

A lot of Pac 12 teams seem low, but that's not surprising given the sample size and poor bowl game performances last year.

What I mean is, their rankings are always way more wrong than right.

How do you quantify that? The data I've seen (which is a few years old now) shows that the FPI favorite wins about 75 percent of the time in FBS team vs. FBS team games. When FPI's winner disagrees with the Vegas favorite, FPI's chosen winner wins 55% of the time.

It's not a perfect ranking, but find me a better one!

UCF I think will have a better than expected season with Malzhan behind the wheel. Florida will probably disappoint as usual and won’t be 14 for too long.

I'm an Iowa State fan boy and Matt Campbell is the most slept-on coach in the country. ISU also returns it's starting QB, RB, and top two receivers from 2020. Three of their five leading tacklers from 2020 are back, too. 4th is too high but also @PeacefulOrca is right here, it's rankings for the season that doesn't start for another four months on the heels of a pandemic. Outside of last fall, there's not a season where spring rankings are more invaluable, imo.

Davidson's not just a basketball school! They just got their first PFL conference championship since joining in 2001... and first conference championship since 1969. Headed to the playoffs for the first time.

They won a national championship back in 2009! They're a solid FCS team...

Sports trivia: Villanova played in a bowl game in Havana Cuba back in the 1930s and tied Auburn. It was called the Bacardi Bowl.
