it blows my mind that in late 2019 captions / subtitles for live tv had made absolutely no change since the 1970's. how are they still 10-15 seconds behind and have spelling errors everywhere? is it still an actual person trying to type it up as it goes??? how is there not a software for that yet

This is a good thing. He's a great coach and just an overall great human but this season just watching his press conferences compared to years past and overall demeanor, he didn't really seem the same.

The big thing all Husky fans were praying for this year was Petersen bringing in an OC from outside his tree to revamp the offense to something more for modern day football. I guess we are gonna get that, just not the way I saw it happening.

Now give me Gerald Alexander for DC or none of this matters.

Do we know why he is stepping down? This seems completely random.

Press Conference tomorrow. Pretty sure he just isn't into it anymore. There was talk 2-3 years ago that he would retire in the next 5 years. So, who knows.

Washington has been disappointing since their playoff appearance. A change was probably needed.

Imo, he should’ve stayed at Boise. Had everything he needed with probably 1/3rd of the stress.

Kiffin should take the Ole Miss job over Arkansas

I’d take him over Mike Norvell all day, every day

I don’t understand why coaches do this before the bowl games. I was at WSU when Mike Price announced he was leaving before the Rose Bowl and then we got slaughtered by Oklahoma

    The rivalry is back on

Bummer about Petersen, but couldn’t be happier to see that Jimmy Lake is getting a shot

Wouldn't be surprised if Peterson waited a year and then went to USC or something, or just realized he was happier and stayed retired. Either or haha

Pete hated doing media in Seattle, no way he wants any of the LA shit.

I wonder if Pedersen would go back to a smaller scale like Boise. He still gets to coach but completely out of the limelight / media’s eyes.

Yea but would it outweigh a huge check from them? It's just hypothetical, I doubt he would too

Peterson isn’t an asshole, there’s no way he’d pull a urban shithead move and retire from Washington just to resurface at USC

I would be absolutely stunned if Petersen wasn’t a head coach at another program by 2022.

do you mean in terms of coaches announcing and leaving before the bowl game? Because Petersen is staying and coaching for the bowl game.

I could see it energizing the players, especially if they love their coach, which I’m sure they do in Washington.

for the coaches that leave beforehand idk sometimes i think it’s best. If you know you’re leaving then might as well go and not pretend like you want to be there anymore. Need to be all in as a player and coach and if you’re not it’s hard to fake that and others are usually pretty good about seeing that / seeing you just going through the motions.

I’m not sure how much this matters since it’s UNC he committed to. But Elijah Green is going to be good.

I'd be stunned if he is. He's been fairly vocal that he hates where CFB is heading. I think he's simply lost his love for coaching. He really didn't seem like he was vested into it at many points this year. I guess time will tell all here.

UNC has a chance to be very good under Mack Brown

Entirely possible, and you’ve followed him closer than I have. I just never believe a coach when they ‘retire’. I think they’re largely too addicted to the game to quit it. I mean, look at all the comfy gigs guys continually give up to get back into it. I just wouldn’t be shocked if a smaller school is struggling in 2022 and wants a splash hire and they bring on Pete and he can coach in kind of obscurity again.
