a dumb take is thinking beating Kent state, central mich, nwstern and USF constitutes an impressive resume. Never thought Illinois would be the team to beat them, but at no point did I ever think Wisconsin was capable of being a playoff team.

damn, even the Michigan state win is unimpressive. They might be 4-3, but those four wins are all jokes.

 

Wisconsin’s not alone in this, lots of major programs have this happen, but I feel like Wisconsin, each and every year, has a close loss that just makes absolutely no sense. Even their best years of 12-2 or whatever always seem to have that one loss that’s just baffling. And it’s been that way for seemingly 30 years (although maybe not the 3 straight Rose Bowl Alvarez years but maybe)

proceeded to call three penalties on Tennessee in a row to make it a 3 and 20 instead.
