Lmao at Florida only dropping one spot on the CFP Poll after losing to unranked LSU. The sport can’t move on from a committee fast enough. Anything to keep out Cincy.

Yeah, that’s an absolute joke. Fuck the SEC favoritism.

Is this the same committee who put 2 loss Bama at 13th last year?

Florida should def be lower. But until any league shows they are on par w the sec, no one can complain about sec favoritism. They are just the best, no question.

actually, the only thing I don’t like about the top 10 is Cinci. Florida is generally where they should be towards the front end of 2 loss teams, but Cinci is the one that’s getting screwed. They get dropped for not playing games, but Ohio st doesn’t face any consequences for not playing games, and for playing less games. If Cinci is dropping, so should the Buckeyes. Throw Cinci up to 5/6 where they belong and bump the rest down.

...should they have been higher or lower on that? I don't have a big issue with that spot. It's a simplification, but they were ahead of every team they beat and behind the two teams they lost against. They also only had one ranked win during the regular season (#24 Texas A&M).

If any other team lost to an unranked team who was 3-5, they would drop a lot more than one spot. I don't think the gap is so big between the SEC and other conferences if you take out Bama (who are the unilateral #1 team right now, as they should be). Here are the OOC records of the SEC vs. the other four power 5 conferences since 2015:

SEC against other conferences with Bama:
    ACC 31-27
    Pac 12 9-3
    Big 10 15-10
    Big 12 15-12

SEC against other conferences without Bama:
    ACC 26-25
    Pac 12 7-3
    Big 10 13-8
    Big 12 14-12

They were at best the 5th best team and no worse than the 7th best team in the country last year. You’ll never be able to convince me that Alabama was a worse team than Wisconsin, Baylor, Utah, and a handful of others in front of them.

Last year felt more like the committee got sick of hearing that they love Bama and the SEC (they do, rightfully so) so they just dropped Bama to an extreme degree to be like “ok. Y’all happy now? Leave us alone”.

Seems like you have some bias, but alright. I do wish there was an expanded playoff so Bama could play teams like those more... and so that the other teams would get a shot without conference bias excluding them from the start. Bama is 0-1 against Utah all time and 1-1 against Wisconsin. 2-0 against Baylor, but they haven't played since the early 1980s.

I do think the SEC is the best conference, but just narrowly. Since 2000, Bama is 4-3 against the Big 12. The gap isn't so large that they should always get the benefit of the doubt.

Edit - I should add... Bama looks scary this year and will undoubtedly be a favorite in any matchup. I'm not blind lol

Omg. You’re going all the way back to 2000 to make your argument. You fail to realize Bama didn’t have a competent coaching staff until 2007 so I’m not into this argument about Bama’s record against the Big 12. I’m talking Saban era (especially 2015 and beyond when the offense evolved). Bama should get the benefit of the doubt every time against a stupid inconsistent program like Baylor. Plus the talent gap is fucking huge at this point.

My prior post about inter-conference records was literally just 2015 and beyond.

My main point is they should expand the playoffs so some of these national championship contenders actually play other conferences. Alabama's 2021 non-conference opponents are Mercer (a bad team even by FCS standards), New Mexico State (a G5 team with one winning season since 2002), Southern Miss (average C-USA team), and Miami (who are perpetually overrated). All but Miami are de facto bye weeks for the team. At least 2022 and 2023's schedule includes Texas and 2024 has Wisconsin.

Obviously biased but I will but fucking floored if Dame is out with a loss. Ohio State shouldn't be in.

    1. Bama
    2. Clemson (with win)
    3. Cincinnati
    4. Notre Dame (with loss)

I think it depends on how big the loss is. 14 points or fewer, and they probably get the 4 seed. If it's a blow out, they may be dropped to 5 and Texas A&M will get in somehow. Ohio State definitely gets in with a win, based on where they've been so far in the rankings.

A not so fun fact: Ohio State has won their last four matchups against Notre Dame by 13 points or more. Notre Dame hasn't beat Ohio State since FDR was in office.

    Lol.

Notre Dame's 1988 season was something special. Went 12-0 while beating the #1, #2, #3, and #9 teams.

Coincidentally, Ohio State went 4-6-1 that year... their only losing season between 2011 and 1966.
