So basically they're banking on Clemson's defense being a much sterner test for LSU than anything they've faced so far this season? Burrow is simply such a massive offensive threat that he'll be able to overcome any defensive scheme that Clemson puts together, imo

Punting doesn't bother me. Attempting 45+ yard FG's is stupid though.

How good is Clemson's pass defense? They're really going to have their work cut out for them in two weeks, as Burrow will be throwing bombs all game long

I was impressed with both team’s defenses last night. Probably the most fast and physical I’ve seen from anyone this season. Really good play by the corners too. The game felt more like a chess match between Ryan Day and Brett Venables.

Clemson has the best defensive coordinator in college football and the best chess piece (Isaiah Simmons) as well.

Their front is very deep and Venables uses A LOT of different rotations.

Derion Kendrick is a legendary athlete in the state of South Carolina and has come into his own as a corner, after spending his prep years as a QB. He's never lost a game in high school or college. I feel like he will be matched up with Chase, while AJ Terrell (a likely first rounder) draws Jefferson in coverage.

I'm concerned about safety play from Nolan Turner, K'Von Wallace, and Tanner Muse in this matchup because they are not good against the deep ball.

Isaiah Simmons is always the X-Factor and will be in this one. I think Simmons will spend more time at safety and nickel than linebacker in this one.

He will still make millions in the nfl, but man, I wonder if Justin Herbert regrets not being the No. 1 QB taken last year in the draft, coming back, and getting passed by Joe Burrows as the top rated QB

Still stunned that we live in a world where Daniel Jones from Duke was a top 6 pick.

Interesting to hear your take. Not sure if you're saying it's a good thing or bad thing Jones went #6. It seemed kinda nuts when it first happened, but Jones drafted that high doesn't really seem like a bad thing considering all the trash QB's drafted in the top 10 in recent history. Think about some of these guys... Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, Mark Sanchez, etc... top 10 picks if I'm not mistaken.

Baker Mayfield being drafted #1 overall feels like a much bigger waste to me. Dude is very average athletically and behaves like a teenager with angst issues.

More just meant that duke putting out an alleged top ten talent to the nfl. But yeah, QB is what nfl teams seem to reach for each year.

Most QBs come from schools not known for putting out QB talent. See: the top pick this year

It’s also interesting that most QB’s that have success in college don’t translate that to the pros. It’s almost like teams should take Daniel Jones from Duke instead of Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma or Jamarcus Russell from LSU or Matt Leinart from USC.

(obviously there are outliers to this and a lot does depend on where you get drafted and how smart / dumb the coach / GM is)

Will Lamar be the first QB (or player in general) to win the Heisman and the MVP?
