i think Lawrence has to stay. i'm sure he'd have loved to go pro last year if he could. you aren't eligible for the draft until after your junior year or maybe a certain age, idk the exact rules.

Three years removed from high school. See Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston.

    thank you.

it will seem like Lawrence has played college for an eternity since he basically played all 3 years while the two you mentioned redshirted so we saw them for less time before they were drafted. i remember during the season last year people complaining that the rule needs to be changed because Lawrence really didn't have anything to show for 2+ more years of college ball and all he'd be doing is risking getting injured.

i'd almost be interested in seeing how much he plays next year since it'll be his last. i imagine Clemson will be loaded again so we could see him miss a lot of second halfs if they're blowing people out (feel like that may have happened this year already but i did't watch a lot of Clemson games)

Some old guy on Finebaum basically came out guns a blazin' and sounds like he'd double down on Trevor just sitting out next season.

just curious since the author states that this isn't new, but the disparity of it is.

Ahhh yes the rest of the Power 5 now knows what it’s like to root for literally any Group of 5 team, except y’all ain’t treated “separate but equal”

Yeah, but the “this is ruining football” take seems overblown. People are still watching. Money is being made. Fandom still exists. Football is still fun to watch. There’s always gonna be villain programs loaded with superior talent you can root against.

i do wish the article talked about previous classes and how many of the top 200 went where because "big programs" that are good for a long time have always been around - Nebraska, Miami in the 80's / 90's, USC in the 00's, Florida for a few years, and probably a whole lot more.

if they pointed out that 50 of the top 200 ranked kids are going to 5 schools and this is the most by far ever or the highest previous amount was, idk, 12 or something, then i'd be more "worried" about the major schools in play now certainly staying in play and understand the articles main concern / point. but teams that always look invincible for awhile come back down to earth eventually. it's a sport, all sports have ebbs and flows.

Yeah... I mean, I dont know what you can do really? The shift of power does change in time though. As soon as saban retires, alabama is slowlllly gonna sink. Clemson wasn't a big time program 10 years ago.

the NCAA will always have fans. its not the concern. people have connections to universities outside of sports.

in my opinion, the NCAA is similar to soccer in europe, except they don't have the cool additional tournaments. i am not against the unequal spread of talent, however, its not going to be fun watching teams roll through conferences and only play two meaningful games. its nothing like other american sports, where a salary cap and legislation helps keep all the teams viable for the playoffs.

they need to let players get paid, and expand the playoffs to include all of the conference winners or something. i think this would help spread the talent, and give us more and better football to watch. its not enjoyable watching a power program play more cupcakes than teams of close or equal skill.

Saban isn't taking the brand, facilities, etc. when he leaves.

I didn't know the NCAA had fans, I just assumed it was a small group of assholes who didn't want athletes to get paid.

But the program wasn't what it was until saban came in (since the golden days). I think we all thought USC would be here forever and now look where they are. Oregon was NOT a thing for a while.

Look at college basketball at how certain programs crumble (outside the big 3)

Regulate schedules. Simple as that. Fuck all of this passing the buck and "oh we're playing Oklahoma in 2032". Make top teams play other top teams in the regular season

that program wasn't wallowing in as much money back then, either. things have changed outside of the HC position, too.

Lsu wasn't a championship team for long time... look at Georgia. World class teams like michigan and Notre dame and miami are now considered 2nd tier.

Florida state! Where have they been since the coach left.

I'm telling ya, dont get too excited and think these programs are going to be national title contenders forever
