That 4th quarter was the ugliest I can remember in years. But seeing the disappointment on Steve Ballmer's face as the final buzzer sounded made it all worth it. Also that black court design in Staples looks like an 8 year old designed it.

yep. Per Wikipedia they were named the Clippers when they moved to San Diego in reference to sailing ships.

 

Ironic they were named after boats with how often they sink

 

The only time in the last couple decades I can remember them having any reference to this was an alternate that had the nautical flags for "LAC" on the shorts. The NBA has rules about there needing to be a basketball in one of a team's logos, but the "let's just throw some letters on a ball" approach they (and the Thunder) currently employ is just sad.
