I still think it's unprecedented that a 27-year-old two time all-star in his prime is going to get bought out. If bought out, he's also going to lose his bird rights.

As someone who (pre-pandemic) plays full-court 5 on 5 basketball 3x a week, every week, every year since 2010, I feel that I'm a very above average basketball player (pick-up wise) but every now and then we'd get like, a D3 college player who barely sees the court in college come in and he'd just blow the fucking smoke out of all of us.

We have a guy who plays with us who played for Cleveland State University (D-1) in 1994. He's like, easily a top 2 or 3 guy we play with and he only averaged 1.3 minutes per game at CSU

Absolutely hysterical that a dude in the gym playing pick-up thinks he could take on an NBA player.

 

Yup, same. I was in an LA Fitness league, we got smoked by two guys on a community college team. Organized ballers are just a different level entirely.

 

In 2018 we had a rec league for four months and one of the dudes played at Lehigh (with CJ actually) and never seen the floor and he was quite literally putting up 40 by himself.

I’ve never seen someone so fast in my entire life for that size. Same height and size as me and just smoked me every time.

I once played against Kyrie in AAU and my coach was telling me to D up on him and he would blow by me, if I sank off he made every shot. It's just a different planet these guys are on skill wise. There's nothing we could do, I think he dropped 50+ and rested.

 

I quickly realized as a senior in high school that my height worked really well from middle school until that point.

When we started playing Lancaster/Reading PA teams (of Lonnie Walker fame)

The opposing centers on teams went from 5’11” (im 6’5”) to about 6’9”+ with commitments to Penn State, Villanova, Penn, Lehigh.

It was a mess and I learned that I AINT shit.

 

hahahaha, life comes at you fucking fast. I also got quickly outgrown by other athletes in every facet. I'm a shade below 6', and I haven't grown since 7th grade.

 

What playoff teams can even do that without making major moves?
