What kills me is not just his size and sturdiness in traffic - that's expected.

Not just his elite agility and ball skills for a man his size - that's why he got drafted #1 overall.

But the fact that he has so much TOUCH around the rim in spite of contact. It's refreshing to see a big man with even more beautiful layups than dunks, and that helps him draw more shooting fouls with a delayed release, while also avoiding charging fouls.

Dude is so consistent about finishing through fouls and double-clutching to avoid block attempts, he gets that clean roll / angle almost every time no matter how dirty the layup had to be. That's the really impressive part, and why he's setting an unprecedented combo of PPG and FG%. He only needs the smallest crease to get a guaranteed layup.

 

Honestly if the Pels defense wasn't so AWFUL the past month or so they'd be in the playoff conversation. Very lopsided team. We can put up 120+ on anybody but we also give up even more points pretty damn often. Especially late in the game when older, more mature teams are better at keeping their composure.

We challenged 3 pointers a bit better mid-game than we have been recently... maybe we finally got sick of teams constantly sinking them on our lazy perimeter defense... but we still almost lost a late 14 point lead tonight.
