I was adamant he wouldn't get bought out a few weeks ago, but that was before the team and him agreed to sit out until being traded. I just don't see a trade partner. Especially from a contending team. I'm at the point where the Cavs just need to get him off the team in any way they can because it's obviously not healthy for either party.

But I also don't see Drummond agreeing to a buyout because there's no way he'd get close to that $28M (he picked up his player option for a reason) and his bird rights would be lost. Even if he didn't want to stay with the Cavs, or the team that he were to be traded to, he could re-sign with them and work a sign and trade for money money then he would if he signs with a team after getting bought out.

Have we ever seen a 27-28-year-old in their prime get bought out? I can't remember that.

Either way, he'll be taking a significant pay cut next contract no matter what happens.

 

I mean he's not gonna be traded - he'll either finish out the season on Cleveland or get bought out.

My hope is he’s able to go to a situation where he can win and show his strengths playing as a 4th/5th option offensively and focus on getting rebounds and giving teams second chance opportunities.
Yes, he’s gets his own rebounds a fuck ton but he’s extremely capable of gobbling up offensive boards all game long.

If he can go somewhere and show that, his value just goes back up anyway.
