Metcalf at 4.33-4.38 has proven me very wrong. But watching the video, getting started seemed to be a lot of labor and he clearly made up the time with his gallop-like full sprint. I LOVE the long speed though and at the very least, for his size he has great acceleration. I just don't see him getting a ton of separation in and out of breaks, his speed is vertical.
Daniel Jones was the opposite. He has one gear haha. His top speed isn't very fast (although decent for a QB) but his acceleration is immediate and that's good for QB-scramble type running. He won't have breakaway speed but he can elude rushers at the last moment and gain 7-10 yards quickly.
Tbh, I was more surprised at the faulty "unofficial times". When I saw 4.56 and 4.46 I KNEW there had to be something wrong. Especially a whole tenth of a second difference between the runs. Watch the video, it's definitely a 4.31 haha. Isabella is one of my dudes in this draft.
I remember you passionately pounding the table for him in the mock draft. That's a super impressive time.
I'll tell you who's panned out extremely well for their position: Noah Fant 4.50 40', 20 bench reps, 39.5 inch vert, 10'7" broad, 6.81 3-cone Those are CRAZY numbers for a tight end. Super athletic. He's in the top 5 for 40', vert, and 3-cone for tight ends over the last 10 years, and the only other player who shows up multiple times is Mike Gesicki actually.
Here's a fun one for you. Try to sell me on Fant over Hockenson for the Bills. Ignore the fact the team's draft position and pretend they wouldn't be reaching for TE at 9 or that they traded back. Keep in mind the Bills have 2 TE on the roster right now: Jason Croom who was a WR at Tennessee and Logan Thomas who was a QB.
Oh I mean Hockenson is better for the Bills though lol. He tested right behind Fant in multiple categories when you rank the best Combine performers at TE. And he's a much better blocker. I think Fant is much more like a Zach Ertz type receiving weapon than the kind of TE a power offense would use.
I just realized that Marion Hobby is the Dolphins DLine coach he was with CLemson for a few years before JAX last year wonder if that means we lean towards one of the Clemson DL
Omenihu, Austin Bryant, Joe Jackson, Jaylen Ferguson... who will be our typical third round pass rusher this year? If we trade down in round 1, however, I am not against maneuvering to go get Clelin Ferrell or Montez Sweat. Like, if we traded down to Miami's pick so they could get Kyler, and we missed Daniel Jones, Jawaan Taylor and Devin White? Clelin Ferrell is my guy in that case. If we pick up an extra day 2 pick? By all means, use that shit to get back into round 1 for Sweat.
I hate to compare any player to one of "the greats" and I don't think that DK Metcalf's film / stats match how impressive his measurements are. So I say this with skepticism. But just looking at him as a prototype, he's the closest thing to a Terrell Owens type weapon I've seen. Super strength, length, and speed.
Wanna know precisely how dogshit this QB class is? Look no further: How embarrassing for each and every one of those kids.
