I scouted both and I think Jonah is definitively better than Scherff. Built similarly, 6'5" which is typical tackle height but not super long arms. But the difference is Jonah knows how to get into perfectly angled stances that get the MOST out of his length. I would say Scherff is a better run blocker while Jonah is a pass blocking expert technique wise. Which further projects Jonah to be more likely to play tackle. @Night Channels seems to think he's not very athletic to pair with his technique, we'll see because I didn't think Scherff was that quick either and he ended up performing great at the Combine.
No one said Jonah can't play tackle, I just don't think it's nearly the same comparison since scherff was undersized and didn't have long arms. I'm not debating this tonight tho, way too tired.
There just seems to be doubt whether he's a better guard or tackle, but I think if you got yourself a guy who knows how to extend and has proper hand placement, and a consistently crystal clean kickslide, you have to at least give him a shot at LT. A lot of times teams draft "athletes" at the position that *never* figure those things out. He's not gonna be Villanueva but he definitely just looks like he knows how to play the position.
Brandon Scherff is a guard. Do you want to use a top ten pick on a guard? This isn't Quenton Nelson. This isn't even David DeCastro.

If you’re talking about the championship game I’ve watched that several times and Clelin beats him maybe 2 or 3 times the entire game, gets one sack. I felt Williams handled him pretty well aside from that big splash play, which Clelin really had to work for. And that’s why I think he IS a tackle lol
If you were saying Cody Ford looks like a guard I’d agree. I do think Jonah has the requisite length and athleticism and more importantly his technique at left tackle is already well on its way
I guess we watched a different game. Ferrell kicked his ass all night with inside counters. Williams struggled with Ferrell's length and athleticism.
You could think Williams is a tackle all day but you still might not want to use a top 10 pick on him
People really still like oruwariye? Idk, I've watched a few of his games and didn't think he was anything that special. I get the tall, lengthy corner becoming overhyped though. The combine might also have a few corners rise up the boards.
Some of my rankings didn’t copy and paste over. I still have him in the top five but Mullen (who I thought would stay at Clemson BEFORE the title game) is my #2 CB. I am guilty of really focusing on measurables early in the process and letting the combine settle some things out before really keying in on play.
Definitely... He is awesome value outside of the top ten. I just have concerns about drafting a player without elite measurables and traits that high. He’s a very good, consistent player but is this is good as he will ever be?
This is why we disagree on Jonah haha. I do the opposite and focus on play before the Combine, which either confirms or changes my opinion about how athletic players are
That’s not why we disagree on him. I think he’s a better guard prospect than tackle and that position holds less value. In today’s NFL, I’m taking the athlete at LT over the capped out technician. The athletes are going over to the DL in most cases, so getting an exceptional jumbo athlete on the OL is a rarity. It’s why I really like David Edwards, Andre Dillard, and the kid from Alabama State. Big athletes with length and movement skills. The combine always settles dust for me, especially the three cone and 10 yard splits. I know your Jags need some help at OT, but this is not that class to take one towards the top unless Dillard or Taylor rise. Dalton Risner is another player you’d probably really like and I think he’s a better fit inside as well.
Very solid length for an OT. Williams could show up with similar numbers but the athleticism sets then apart. Montez Sweat murdered Dillard yesterday.
Dillard screams guy who the pats get at the top of the 2nd round somehow and plays like 3 positions for them at different times
I need to watch more dbs I'm also pretty sure savion smith will have a monster combine and get overdrafted
I had a really hard time keeping him out of the top five. Super talented, but Nick Saban’s DBs are very tough to evaluate. You’d like Nasir Adderley. He’s a player that could get some looks at corner too.
