If I was a scout in that building I'd risk my job pounding the table to take one of those talented safeties haha. Gipson wasn't a good tackler either but that doesn't mean it's not really hard to replace what he brought in terms of coverage.
If we weren't gonna draft a FS, which is seems like the case, then it doesn't matter. Ben Burr is such a Seahawks pick.
I'm fine with that pick but I just wish we took a safety with pick 98. Then I'd feel better about the choice to go RB here.
Armstead is the 2nd fastes RB in the draft and one of the strongest and most agile. Already like him more than Yeldon. And obviously more than Blue.
We should've came into the draft feeling more comfortable with Telvin / Jack / Jake Ryan at linebacker, than we felt with Jarrod Wilson / Ronnie Harrison at safety. Caldwell's press conference after we took Quincy Williams indicated he feels the opposite way.
Anyway @CarpetElf usually you're the naysayer who thinks I'm too biased so hopefully it's refreshing that I don't like a Caldwell move for once
Jake Ryan is our back-up. Quincy is a role player. I've been saying, we love hybrid players like that.
Rich Eisen hahahaha "this kicker is gonna be the Buccaneers' big toe" He's really the best media personality that covers NFL football. I don't like a lot of NFLN guys but I've always thought he was the right guy to lead off the debates.
Panthers got another 3-4 pass rusher in Christian Miller. I don’t know if he’s good or but I’m happy with it.
So yeah I think a starting free safety is a SUPER IMPORTANT position if you want to stop aggressive vertical offenses, and was a much higher priority than a "role player". I like Jarrod Wilson but I'd bet money on Deionte Thompson or Amani Hooker beating him out in camp
I meant if we drafted them goofball They would've upgraded a very important position. Even if we went into the season trusting Jarrod Wilson, we could hold him to a high standard if we drafted some quality competition and replace him easily if he wasn't working out
