Yeah that's the part that confuses me. Based on that video he's a Telvin/Ronnie rotational back-up/special teamer. But like, does that mean we believe in Jarrod Wilson to be the guy? Hmm...
I mean I like the way he plays but he's 1) not a free safety and 2) probably would've been available in round 5
Jarrod Wilson is a guy I've always been impressed by when I went to offseason practices and watched preseason games... but not enough to be like "we can cut Tashaun Gipson and have no plan to replace him in the draft"
But hey, maybe you gotta trust your eyes just like you trust the tape. Wilson all along has been that dark horse that I liked on our team that never got to start in a legit game
Oh yeah he's not a free safety. I'm assuming he's gonna be a rotational piece. Competition aside, that dude can HIT and he's fast.
Most teams are probably punting because the pats are going 16-0 and winnin it all again anyway, resume trying again next year
We'll use him like a Deone Bucannon in 3-safety sets most likely such as Big Nickel, 3 deep dime, etc
He said he expected to sign as an UDFA. OOF. It's like they had to counter us having the best draft by making what will undoubtedly be the biggest reach.
So maybe Williams & Josh Allen add power to their LB front on run downs, with Myles Jack at free safety, but then on passing downs they'll have sub packages where Campbell kicks inside to DT, Allen plays DE, Myles Jack adds finesse to the LB corps with Telvin, and Williams either subs out or drops into an "enforcer" third safety role.
Yeah I just hate the value. If they waited until at LEAST the 5th round pick they got back in the Raiders trade, then it feels like "oh that's a pick we didn't have originally anyway". If they waited till one of our 6th or 7th round picks they could've looked like the smartest team in the room. They had to reach and miss out on a dominant receiving weapon as all of them will likely go in the 4th round.
