i’m not really surprised harper and machado are still unsigned though. whos gonna jump out in december and pay 10/400 when you might be able to get 8/280 in february. Its shitty but, i mean, thats the stove these days.

Murray will probably be drafted within the first 15 picks and will make more than enough money to pay back whatever bonus money he owes Oakland.

also this comment on the Deadspin article is really enlightening and shows that the CBA needs to be changed

I mean Murray is gonna get more in guaranteed money right away and will probably make more money just in endorsements alone than what he would make in total during his first 4-5 years in baseball

 

like it's insane that Machado and Harper are still unsigned - this doesn't happen in any other sport! the top free agents aren't still unsigned almost two months in the FA period!

 

Isn’t QB a much safer position now than it was historically? That probably helps with his decision

 

where that tweet about how teams payrolls are getting smaller while prices to go to games are getting more expensive

it's safer than what it was 10 years ago but I wouldn't say it's actually safe haha

 

it probably has more to do with making a lot of money right away and being a more recognizable athlete/star and bigger endorsements and getting to travel to game on private planes and five star hotels instead of greyhound buses and motel 6's

he was drafted by Oakland he's never gonna get a major endorsement deal regardless of his skill set just based on the market he's was drafted into
