I’d prefer it if it was something they showed after close pitches rather than having it up all the time.

 

I’m for both.

The display is cool.

The best eyes in the world get calls wrong and are subject to manipulation. If there’s a set of rules of what a strike is, then a device that makes an objective call should be no issue.

 

Joe Buck’s play by play has never bothered me. Both in baseball and football. He just seems like such an asshole in the pre game stuff and during interviews outside of his assignment. Plus I hate his face and his attempt at humor. But overall, he doesn’t come close to being the worst commentator around.

 

Just to clarify I meant as a means to eliminate the home plate ump calling balls and strikes. I’m good with the display during games.

 

My 2 main questions would be what if it malfunctions mid game, and who makes a call at the plate? If they can figure that out then I’m sure it’s inevitable at some point.

 

Nightly call for a Mookie playoff homerun over the monster.

 

I don’t see them losing the ump at the plate so I’d guess they’d become the backup plan.

Nah no electronic strikes. Display is fine but I liked the Statcast broadcast on ESPN when they just flashed the 3d sideview in the upper left corner. Hate the strike zone superimposed over home plate. I like how NESN does it though.

I feel like the odds of it malfunctioning is a lot lower than an ump blowing a bunch of calls.

I’ve yet to see one miss a location on TV. Lol

 

I really like Alex Cora’s demeaner as a manager. I don’t watch the Red Sox much, but is he always this calm and collected?

 

Pretty much, yeah, aside from the two times he’s gotten tossed.

 

Yeah he really is never too high or too low. Very measured.
