  1. fuck that’s awful to hear. Is he like the vin Scully of the red Sox? Pardon for not knowing of him.

  2. He's not on Scully's level, but he's been there for as long as I can remember at least. He's been in and out of remission for like 10 years, I think he's on his 6th treatment. He and Don were famous for constantly breaking and laughing before Don left. He's not a spectacular announcer but he was above average in his prime imo and was absolutely perfect with Don.

A million times yes. O'Brien is fine but is just so boring and monotone.

  6. Omg those clips are amazing. I hope they won some ESPYs or other major awards for those calls. Hahahahaha. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Just because one can’t have enough Vin, he’s a great Vin call:

He is certainly nowhere near Vin, but him and Orsillo together were magic. And the Pizza incident is one of my favorite moments as a sports fan. It honestly is ahead of Ortiz's homer against the Angels in '04 lol.

Edit: I am literally giggling at work over this pizza thing now.

I shared it with a fellow dodger fan and he also loved it. What an amazing call! Hahaha.

Also not sure if I’ve shared it here but here’s my VERY biased personal favorite Vin Scully call:

I was thinking the other day how Joe Castig's inflection is like, ingrained into my head. I know that voice better than most of my family.

O’Brien has really grown on me this season but I’d tend to agree. He has a great voice and is perfect for radio but he just doesn’t have the personality of Orsillo.

Honestly, the part that really sticks with me is "After 1, it's Red Sox 2, Orioles 1...." idk why but the tone is so familiar to me.

Honestly my wife and I watch that Orsillo/Remy Baltimore Youtube clip once or twice a year and still cry from laughing over it. Such great chemistry those two had that could make a boring random game in the middle of the summer entertaining.

Hey the players used to take greenies to get though the long season I'm sure there have been times when announcers used their versions of 'PEDs' as well.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Back in the days before YES I really liked Sterling and Kay on the radio. Sterlings HR calls have become an abomination these days but I'll always love "Bern baby Bern"

  23. Abomination how? I only ask because sometimes Charlie Steiner defaults his delivery on the radio as though long balls will be caught so there’s no excitement. It’s just “and it’s.....!” — and then sometimes a “did he catch it?” and then the most low energy “...gone, a homerun.”
So like, first of all you have to wait forever to know WTF just happened and second, you’d think the opposing team scored against US! I get you wanna get the call correct but a few seconds on the radio, especially in a tight or important game, is an eternity.
