Carrasco said he just had some pectoral tightness and is just fine. The outfield is all crazy now, but Jackson or Naquin could be ready to go soon. Kluber should be back on Friday.

All of it isn't fun, but the team's doing pretty well with all these little problems here and there.

Indians just recalled top prospect Bradley Zimmer as part of a series of moves, including Almonte to the DL. Looks like Diaz is going down and Armstrong is coming up. Interesting.

Not sure how I feel about Zimmer being called up. I don't want to mess with his development, being a top prospect, if you're going to bring him up, then you need to stick with him to let him learn at the big league level. I really hope they don't keep bouncing him around MLB/AAA for the remainder of the year, because that will just mess with his confidence and development, something the Indians really messed up on with LaPorta, Marte and even Brandon Phillips.

Completely excited to watch Zimmer. I was so tired of watching Chisenhall in CF. This really isn't any kind of problem because he probably would've been considered in July or so anyways. He started a little slow, but he's been on fire down in Columbus lately too. Can't wait to watch him play one bit.

Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely excited to watch him. My hope is the Indians stay committed to him at the big league level, and not just option him down every time a player comes back from injury. I just feel this franchise has a history of messing with their top prospects by constantly optioning them back down to the minors every time they struggle. You just have to let these guys learn at the big league level because they've already mastered minor league hitting, so sending them down doesn't really do anything for them except stunt their development.

If my understanding is correct, Zimmer is just now being added to the 40-man roster, so the clock on his 3 option years won't start until he were to be sent back down to the minors for more than 20 days. Hopefully we can give him consistent at bats.

I feel like he'll be sent back down but it's a good time to call him up ATM so they lucked out in a weird sort of bad way

  8. Call up another AAA arm, straight to the DL. Call up a AA arm, straight to the DL. Have a position player pitch, straight to the DL. If I didn't know better, I'd think Dipoto missed pitching so much he's pulling a Tonya Harding on these guys so he could suit up.

At least we still have our staff ace, Gallardo. :verysad:

Was Frazier above Zimmer in the Indians system? Would he likely be up right now if they didn't trade him?

I believe so. Following the trade, MLB.com posted top 100 prospects and I think Frazier was like No. 15 overall and Zimmer was 25.

EDIT: Although, now I'm seeing a more updated one where Zimmer is No. 19 and Frazier is no. 20. So looks like Frazier dropped a little since the trade.

Yankees are doing well so I'm not as impatient but still can't wait for Frazier to get up here lol. I haven't checked on his progress too much this year but he struggled a bit when he came over so that def could've dropped him a bit.

Edit: .240 with 5 hr and 21 rbi in 34 games so far

He was behind Zimmer because at the time, Zimmer was being projected as a "five tool" potential as unlikely as that is to come to fruition. Where as on the flip side, you are hoping Frazier turns into a Pedroia type at the plate that you can play in left. Frazier's plate approach/swing was very aggressive coming up and his size caused people to throw Pedroia around all the time.

Seemed like power, speed and his arm are all pretty good from what I've seen, haven't seen enough average or fielding wise to say. But yeah a more powerful Pedroia in left would be fine with me haha.

Frazier made more contact as he broke out, he's ahead as far as that's concerned but zimmer is gonna get like 30+ steals a year and hit almost as many homers.

I just remember with those trade talks the Tribe essentially valued Zimmer more than Frazier and that's why he was included. You're a little more boxed in as to what you can do with Frazier, but he is a good prospect. I'm sure he will be developed well in NY's system. I like the way Cleveland is developing players, but with our youth there was going to be an odd man out so to fortify the bullpen with Miller and what NY wanted to do, I think that trade made a lot of sense for both of us.

Clevelands farm is really underrated, there are guys there who never may be given a chance.. hopefully a bunch get traded

The real luck from last season's deadline was that Lucroy nixed his trade to us. Mejia/Chang/Allen/Armstrong would've looked so bad on the Tribe right now.

I don't mind losing Frazier over Zimmer though. I think Frazier could be stronger than Zimmer, but I also think he has a larger chance to be a bust. I think Zimmer, at the very least, could be a decent player to keep around. However, he really looks like he could be a very good player.

Yeah, Brad Grant and his team under Shapiro/Antonetti/Chernoff have done a really good job changing the whole Indians farm system and scouting approach over the last several years. It's been a slow build because of how bad it used to be.

Oh yeah it was definitely a good trade. I was rooting for Cleveland cause I loved Miller, seemed like the best teammate.

    Speaking of Clint lol

There's that aggressive swing and approach haha. And yeah, he is definitely strong. I remember he put on a lot of muscle in the early Tribe years, like in the Arizona fall league and whatnot. Being out of high school he was basically human clay for a pro team to mold. No bad college habits/diets/training to break. And now you see guys like Yandy Diaz that look like football players and you can definitely see the emphasis on strength training and diets in the farm system. I'm sure other teams are doing similar work too.

We've come a long way from guys like Bartolo, there's always gonna be some fat guys but they probably won't pop buckles like sandoval lol

Yeah I've seen quite a bit of his training on the YES network, he definitely kills it in the gym.

I still feel like of the big sports baseball is the one you have to be the least in shape for. I wouldn't call guys like Kipnis or Jumbo Diaz great athletes. That said, I think there is more of an emphasis now on being in decent shape. It's definitely an area to get an advantage still.

Is that video available online by chance? I'd be curious to see some of that footage.
