Coming from a Rays fan, I know what it’s like to have a lockdown, trustworthy pitcher completely underperform in a postseason series. Hope Houston takes it this year.

Brace yourselves for the hot takes blaming Francona.

 

Hard to blame Francona for Lindor/Ramirez disappearing and Kluber blowing up twice.

I'm all for ragging on managers, but I don't think Francona should hold much, if any, blame.

Giovanny Urshela getting 12 at bats was pretty baffling. And Kipnis batting second.

Yeah some minor quibbles but anybody blaming Francona shouldn't be allowed to watch sports ever again. Urshela did make some crazy plays against the Yankees this season. Kluber, Lindor, Ramirez should probably all be in the top 5 of MVP voting and look at what they did. This is not on Francona.

 

Man. To be serious, it was sad to see the failure in this series live at Progressive Field. For both sides, the umps really sucked, but nothing to excuse the Tribe bats and pitchers not really reaching their potential here. Sad to see them go down, but I have hopes for next season. It will certainly be an interesting offseason in seeing how they sort out this roster since they’ve got some guys blocked in AAA, others having injury troubles, and some guys just being free agents.

At the very least, the next week of the Browns being the only team in its regular season will make me appreciate this team and its potential. (We literally haven’t had that happen in like 2 years.)
