That bullpen is deep. Good on Girardi to go to him in a jam and not hold him for potential holds.

i guess this was what i was saying with a tough call for molitor...now that berrios cant get it done it's over

how was it a tough call? santana had nothing working and it's win or go home.

even with berrios giving up runs, it's still not a tough call even in retrospect

sometimes you gotta thing long term, even within the game. Ervin giving up 6 runs in 5 innings would actually be fine.

now you bring in berrios and he can't get out of the 5th and now the games over.

It really sucks seeing Chapman succeed. Easily my least favorite player in all of baseball.

News on once the clouds are gone. Prestigious

The Yankees should've won that more handily, Cleveland is definitely gonna win the first 2 and then have to win a closer series once they rebound

I have a few problems with Tito's comments, really. For starters, he's openly talking about 'well if we lose Game 1, we turn to our Ace' and 'if the series goes 5, we got our ace.' I get that as a manager, you have to be thinking about that kind of stuff, but I don't like him openly talking about losing or stretching series to 5. You go for their throat and go with your best options, period. And don't plant losing in the heads of your players, fans, etc.

Also, he contradicts himself by saying he wants Kluber to pitch on 'normal' rest if series goes 5...well, by pushing him to Game 2, he's giving Kluber an extra day in between starts. So that's not 'normal' rest. If you're willing to rest him one extra day to pitch him Game 2, then why not pitch him Game 1, and then he pitches Game 5 (if there is one) on one extra day rest? Furthermore, if you win the series in 3 or 4 games, Kluber will be pitching past normal rest for ALCS.

Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Castrovince shares a lot of what I just said above about pitching Kluber Game 2. Weather is also a real concern, which I talked about earlier in this thread with Game 2 having a real chance of being postponed, which blows up Tito's plan.

Indians going with deep bullpen plan in ALDS

I mean I agree that I would pitch Kluber game 1, but I guess I don’t really care either, given how our pitching has been lately. Pitching Bauer game 1 is a confidence boost for him, which could be a good thing in that respect.

So what do we expect the Yankees rotation to look like this series?

"Not that you go into a game thinking you're going to lose, but if you do, you have your ace coming back," Francona said. "The biggest thing was keeping him on his five-day [routine]. That was really important to Kluber. That was really the only way we could do it. Again, you don't want to put the cart ahead of the horse, but if you're fortunate enough to win in four, you have your ace ready for the next series."

That seems to be a pretty factor you're ignoring. Its something that Kluber seems to find important.

EXACTLY. His normal five-day routine would have him pitching Game 1 tomorrow (since his last start was Saturday). THAT would be his normal five-day routine. If you pitch him Game 1, you can still pitch him Game 5 on an extra day of rest. As of now, he's pitching Game 2 on an extra day of rest. It's contradictory.

Castro notes that: Also, as Francona noted, the Indians are prioritizing having Kluber on regular rest -- as opposed to five days' rest (he last pitched on Saturday) -- for a potential Game 5. But he will have had five days' rest before Game 1. It seems a possibly non-existent Game 5 is being given more weight than a very-much-existent
