Damn

 

I'm already worried about this considering he has reportedly already turned down a 'near 100 million extension.' The guy is becoming the face of the league and at 23-years-old is already in the 30-HR club.

 

From his stance, I don't blame him. He didn't turn it down to just to limit his time with the Tribe. Even though it's a large figure, he's barely had any down time in his almost 3 years available and deserves more than a 7-year/$100 million extension. Look at Kluber, he's signed through age 35 and the highest he makes is $14 million. (Luckily, that changes with a CY Young win.) Lindor doesn't want to get caught up in something like that, but I'm confident they work something out and get him leading this team for a long time.

 

I guess my point is, the Indians have never given anyone a 100 million extension, so I find it unlikely they'll go far over that, which he can easily demand if/when he gets on the open market. The Front Office has been willing to spend the past few years, so we'll see.

 

I normally get caught up in the contracts of my teams, but I am refusing to do that with this Tribe team. They have been able to retain everyone they prioritize since Antonetti has been GM and now president.

 

True. I think they're fine and something will get done. Lindor's extension will stretch much farther all of their contracts, so they can just have it escalate up. We'll see on ownership too. Now's about the perfect time for Dolan to sell, which has been getting closer with new minority owners and such. People might look at what Dan Gilbert has done in the city and see there is an opportunity.

 

Fuck Dan Gilbert

 

I'm not saying ethically, but putting money into a team to try to help them succeed. We seem to go in cycles of successful years, talent leaving/major drop, new talent/successful years, etc. I just think the money (not personal reactions/moves) Gilbert has spent gives the idea that providing consistency with stars on the team can lead to more continued success/passion from fans.

I'm a big Cardinals fan, but that missed ball/strike call was ridiculous. If you can't/won't call that, you shouldn't be an MLB umpire.

Don't know how Joe Maddon wasn't tossed along with Lackey and Contreras.

I hate when umpires call a clear strike a ball after the catcher sets up on one side of the plate and reaches back to the other side to catch the pitch.

It's still fairweather season though.

 

As cool as the streak was, I am kind of glad it's done so that the focus can go back to returning to the World Series and hopefully win.
