What a wonderful performance by JV. I really love these individual moments and performances where one player writes themself into the history books, especially in a dominating fashion. Some no hitters are less cool than others, particularly ones with lots of walks, but this was a dominant performance.

One of the reasons I’ve been enjoying soccer a lot lately is because a team generally needs be cohesive to excel, everybody needs to do their part in order for the collective group to win. Baseball has that as well, of course, but also one player can at times just do so much of it by themselves, like today with JV. I love teams striving together to win as well as individuals paving their own way forward. It’s all so good and rich and emblematic of the human experience (to me at least).
