Indians only 1 game back of Houston (.5 if HOU loses today). They were 12 games back just a month ago. That's bonkers.

Houston's playing a double header. The Tribe could tie it up tonight if they lose both games.

    All tied up!!!

I'm going to the Indians game on Wednesday at home against Detroit. Sadly it'll be my first game of the season!

Whoever I argued with. Indians are good. I still won't take back the fact that if Miller isn't much of a difference maker at least during the regular season.

I don't understand your "not much of a difference maker" point. He's arguably the best relief pitcher in the game-how does that not make a difference?

Yes, I realize that he makes MORE of a difference in the playoffs by pitching more frequently and more innings, but to say he's not a difference maker in the regular season is absurd to me.

I don't got anymore jokes for the Dodgers.

I've run out of terrible humor.

I subscribe to the Joe Sheehan school of thought that a reliever is a failed starter.

Whether or not a relief pitcher could cut it as a starter has absolutely nothing to do with making a difference in a game.

If I'm understanding what you're saying, it's essentially that relief pitchers more or less don't make a difference?

As expected before the season, guys with 16 wins right now are Greinke, Kershaw, Sale and Bauer.

I'm pretty sure the point is that the difference between relievers is negligible.

I don't care to even look at his WAR, but the Yankees would have at least five more losses this season if they didn't have Chad Green.

Andrew Miller is one of 5 relievers ever who won a League Championship Series MVP. He was the reason indians got to World Series. Dude said a few weeks ago he wasn't a difference maker.

Also, pretty sure someone on here a few weeks ago said that Houston was unquestionably better than Cleveland...OOOF.

I also subscribe to the school of thought that a reliever is a failed starter. All that means to me though is I would never ever give a reliever a Cy Young over a starter. Acting like they make no difference is absolutely crazy, especially since they baby starters with the 100 pitch limit. Good relievers are more important than they've ever been.

    Here's what I agree with:
    Relievers are failed starters.
Good relievers are more important than they've ever been.

Andrew Miller is undeniably very good, but he's unique in the way he's used, which sets him apart. That has nothing to do with anything particular about his skillset. It has to do with Cleveland being more progressive than the rest of the league in bullpen usage and management. I think other relievers could very much do what Miller does. There are a lot of really good relievers, but they're shackled to being set up men or closers instead of being used in the way Miller has been with Cleveland.
