Kershaw pitching a gem of a start with 6 IP, 2 hits and 7 strikeouts only for the team to get one run scored is classic dodgers.

It's crazy he actually left that early when he could still at least do the 7th inning cause he was barely at 70 pitches.

3rd longest 9 inning game in MLB history and a blown call essentially leads to the end of the game.

  5. I wish that I could give up on STL making the playoffs and just mentally move on to next year, but this feels like so early to do that and we aren't THAT far back. But at the same time we obviously just do not look like a team that will be playing baseball a month from now, even if we make a wild-card play-in game.

We don't talk enough about how annoying the Yankee Stadium strike out whistle and "hey oh" call/response are.

Okay, cool. Look at it game by game. Its not that dominant. JV has several games where he gives up less than 2 runs.

    Here's 2016:

    Game 1 - 7.0 IPs 2 ERs 10 Ks 2 BBs
    Game 2 - 5.0 IPs 8 ERs 2 Ks 3 BBs
    Game 3 - 4.2 IPs 8 ERs 5 Ks 2 BBs
    Game 4 - 7.0 IPs 0 ERs 7 Ks 4 BBs
    Game 5 - 7.0 IPs 0 ERs 12 Ks 1 BB

Sure, you can add them all up and get an ERA for the year, but that doesn't capture what really happened. And Wins/Losses are garbage stats that definitely capture nothing. There were three games where CLE could barely touch him last year, and two where they tee'd off on him.

That tweet is lazy and painting a false narrative. To go by that "for future reference" would be a mistake. Its not as on sided as you think. That's 5 games out of 9, in the past two years, where JV gave up 2 or less ERs. I don't consider that dominance or constant shelling.

  8. ERA and wins are the two stats you should avoid the most when trying to predict future performance

The point of my comments were that as great as a career JV has had, Cleveland has had A LOT of success against him. Probably more so than any other team in recent years. Entire reason I brought it up was because someone mentioned that Houston was clearly better than Cle now that they got JV, so I pointed out his struggles vs CLE.

And you can throw out game 5 vs Cle last year as I mentioned it was the last weekend of season. Seriously, check the lineup the Indians put out that day. All minor leaguers and bench guys

My brother got me a Doug Fister autographed baseball as a joke at a local sports shop after its price dropped when the Tigers traded him because he knew how mad I was about the trade.

Twins have so many fewer games against contenders than the Yankees. I'd be shocked if the Twins don't take the first wild card tbh

I hope the Twins do get home field as I have never been to a twins playoff game and feel we would lose at Yankee stadium

I used to not complain about forsythe because while he wasn't getting hits, he was still getting these amazing pitching counts.

That dried up and now he is just bad and blahhhh.

this frustration of watching this team lose so much is getting to me.
