And it's more in line with what he has done before last year, so I can't help but wonder if last year was somewhat of a fluke

 

I mean he's had two amazing years

Edit: just looked, surprised it wasn't above .900 in 2016

 

definitely a great year but not a world beating year like 2018

We’ve Reached the Point of “Too Many Homers”

 

Snell throws 52 fastballs out of his 80 total pitches and looks like he did last year. Looked great.

Don’t really know why he was pulled after 6 innings apart from it being a part of the pre-game plan. Maybe with Cash being ejected, Quatraro didn’t feel like pivoting from some arranged plan for the bullpen.

 

The regression is normal. If you're not Mike Trout, you're probably not gonna string together seasons like that. Mookie might have a couple of more in his career, but consistently? Nah.

 

Right, though I was hoping Mookie might have unlocked a new level and could truly contend with Mike Trout for the foreseeable future on a consistent basis. It would've been fun to see a modern Mays/Mantle duo battling it out.

 

Yeah, I get that. Though I ain't too angry about it. It was annoying to hear random Red Sox fans anoint Mookie as the best player in the game after one year. It's like, Trout has set the bar so damn high, a player is really gonna have to string together some seasons to be considered on his level.

It's happening again this year too with Bellinger and Yelich. We're only halfway through the year and fans are already trying to anoint them better than Trout. It's like clockwork. Every year a challenger or two appears, but they simply can't keep up over the long haul. Yelich might have a shot since he had a pretty great year in 2018(though it only matches Trout's worst season, lol). But Bellinger? Nah.
