Also, Scherzer is my favorite pitcher in all of baseball that doesn't play for Atlanta. I just love how he goes about his business and his demeanor on the mound.

 

Boyd Day is starting out nicely. Three straight K's to start the game.

 

I looked him up recently cause obviously he's a name that's thrown around in rumors, nothing before this year really stands out. Legit going forward in his career you think?

 

He's always been decent before this season. Kind of reminds me of Rick Porcello. He always gets to 2 WAR, which is really valuable, but the ERA wasn't exactly where you always wanted it to be. But, I get what you mean. He's never been a good pitcher before.

The difference between him and Rick, though, is this season Matt has become a different pitcher. His K% is 30% and his BB% is 5%. Rick got his K rate up, but nothing like this. If Matt can keep this K rate and his K/BB ratio like this, I think he can remain good into the future. His xFIP and SIERRA are good, too, which is a better predictor than ERA. So, maybe he can turn into a late-bloomer Patrick Corbin type pitcher? But that's the upside. There's always risk that this is just a one-off year, and he returns to his true self.

Just really sucks, because I know he's going to be traded either way. I just hope for a haul.

Yeah I was just going off the basic stats, figured since there's a Tiger fan here you'd know better haha. But yeah he's obviously looked great what I've seen of him this year
