I had no idea he died. I'm sure I heard about it when it happened, but totally forgot. Also, I can't believe his last season in MLB was 2002. He seems so much more recent than that. My mind is blown.

Why is Matheny pulling Wacha after 4 innings?!

 

He cleared waivers and is getting traded.

 

Just read the game log. Crucial point with runners in scoring position and they recently had an off day so the bullpen is totally worn out. Take the chance to get some runs in.

 

Wacha could've hit into that double play just as well as Voit

 

Wacha would have been more likely to GDP than Voit. Voit was way more likely to drive in those runs in what was looking like a 1 run game. Just has you want to have a good pitcher available during a high leverage situation wouldn't you want the best hitter available during that time?

 

A pitcher having a good outing who's only pitched FOUR innings with only one out in the batting inning they're in. It was the top of the 5th, not the 7th or 8th inning.

Hindsight being 20/20 wasn't a good move but if you were to give me a chance for a real hitter to be up in that situation or hope that Wacha can continue pitching like he is I'd take the hitter every time. Also its now in the eighth and only 1 one was given up. I don't think Wacha would have done any better.

 

We'll have to agree to disagree. Our bullpen has been our downfall, so the thought of them having to pitch more than half of the game makes my head hurt. I feel like it was a boneheaded move by Mike
