It could be really, really unfortunate. It could be really good as well, though. Teams are less desperate in the offseason, but they also have more interest in acquiring guys on longer term deals. The offseason is where Detroit moved Prince Fielder's huge deal. The one negative is that Avila tried this already, and teams didn't budge even after a JV Cy Young caliber season, and a huge year for Kinsler. Now, they're looking at a rough year from literally every long term vet they have.

Plus, with Avila's inability to really get a big return on any of his deadline deals, this offseason could just be more frustration.
