Just a random thought here but maybe the real reason the Cardinals didn't pursue Scherzer--despite the fact he waved a huge flag around saying "I want to come home to STL"--was that our FO knew the dude would eat noted push-over Mike Matheny's liver for lunch while sitting on the grass in front of second base within two months of signing with us. That look he gives Martinez would make me call in sick for a week.
