    Why do you say eventually?

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I'm happy with the return the Tigers got for Wilson/Avila.

I just hope we manage to move Verlander and Kinsler today. Doubtful, but I can dream

Like not 1st ballot. He seems like the kind of guy that should get in like 4th try

    Although biggio kinda changed things

As well liked and respected around the game he is he'll definitely get in before that

yeah probably. i know im a "harsh" hall of fame guy. Like gun to my head "Beltre HOF"? Nah. After reading the stats is he a HOF? Nah.

Should he get in? Yeah fine haha.

Consistently a top 20 player his whole career...never top 5. I'm not a fan of electing those kind of guys, but hey, I agree, he's a respected guy in the sport and i'm never MAD when someone gets in haha.

it's cool to see a guy like that get rewarded too

Someone forgot about the time he had a 10 win season and the only reason he didn't get MVP is because Barry Bonds had the most unreal season ever.

yes his WAR (and 3000 hits) is the literally the only thing even keeping him in the convo. He would be the highest WAR guy (all-time) to NOT be in HoF.

I'd say he's been one of the top 3B for most of his career. If that's not HoF worthy I don't know what is.

i like my all-stars to be dominant, for at least SOME part of their career. how often have we considered Beltre to be a TOP 5 player in the league? twice? Like it's crazy to think that one of the top 3B has only made the all-star team 4 times.

His legacy is his consistency to stay relatively healthy, bat .280, give you solid defense, and just be an all out solid player.

A lifetime of solid...i GUESS...gets you into the hall.

I mean top 5 in mvp twice...top 5 in war twice...

meanwhile a guy like bernie and Don Mattingly are left off. it's crazy.

He is one of the best defensive 3B of his era remaining productive to this day when most players are done.

By your definition Nolan Ryan shouldn't be a HoF because he was only dominant for games at time because holy shit was he wild.

Nolan ryan lead the league in strikeouts 11 times! Not top 10...he was the best in the entire sport at something for an entire decade. 6 times top 5 cy young..

    Plus all those no hitters

    That's dominance my friend

Beltre is on the biggio side of things of the hof. Which is fine.

How many times did he also lead the league in walks. And how many Cy youngs did he win since apparently that's your metric for who a good ball player is.

I'm not asking a player to chalk up mvp awards to be a hall of fame...im asking for a player to be dominant for a period of time. Nolan ryan was dominant and actually lead the entire sport of baseball in a relatively big time pitching category for an entire decade

Beltre doesn't have anything close to that

There is a reason Ryan never was high in Cy Young voting. He was a one trick pony. He just blew it by people. Wasn't that accurate of a pitcher many of the years he lead the league in Ks he also lead the league in walks.

He has a career era+ of 112. Basically he was only 12% better than the average pitcher in run prevention.

Haha but he did get high voting... top 5 6x.

We can argue until the cows come home on whether he was actually good...and Im sure sabermetrkcs can chew him apart

But even with that he has stuff in his resume that's unworldly and incredible

Is he a top 10 pitcher of all time...probbaly not.

Well I'd argued that Beltre is a top 16 3B of all time. How did I come to 16? Because for some reason there are only 16 3Bs in and he is better than a lot of them.

    Beltre is a war darling.

Yeh but I'm talking about all pitchers...youre talking about one specific position.

Beltre is a top 10 3B of all time. I agree with that.
