I get so nervous watching beyond the sixth now. It seems like it's 50/50 that someone is gonna screw it all up.

I think even if he's totally washed up and can't get another contract Price will just desperately want out of Boston by the time his opt-out comes up lol

It makes sense, not that I'd recommend doing it. Gray is supposedly an ace caliber arm, young and under team control. The Yankees can see what a difference a year makes with a young and talented starter in their own current ace. It's just hard to convince someone that a pitcher is incredible when the results don't really show it quite as much. I think whoever ends up acquiring Gray will be happy with him.

yeah like if the dodgers gave up a top tier prospect for gray I wouldn't mind, just because the cost control years.

    For Darvish it's just dumb.

I mean I don't blame the A's for asking a lot, they have like 4 serious interested teams. But if Sale and Quintana couldn't budge those two, Gray certainly wouldn't. I wouldn't mind getting Gray since Severino and Montgomery are the only certainties for next year, but def not for Frazier or Torres.

Personally, I have no idea why the Yankees chose not to move either for Sale, aside from maybe not having a ton of club control years left. I find it weird that they were willing to give up rutherford for somewhat garbage players, but wouldn't move either of the others for any of the available SP. Quintana and Sale both were great options. Gray is such a risky one, but understandably worth a lot. It's tough.

I didn't like the Rutherford trade at all, but watching Kahnle since we got him, he's looked really nasty. Him for three years and Robertson for next year, they have a legitimate postseason bullpen now so I think it was worth it when Rutherford is so far down the depth chart and Frazier and Judge will lock down two OF positions. Todd was a throw in but the other two guys aren't garbage at all lol. I mean compared to Sale sure but I don't know one person that thought that was worth killing the farm for before the season started.

If the Yankees win a playoff series it'll probably be worth it. The thing about that is a guy like Rutherford is usually a major piece in a bigger trade so it hurts them a lot to lose that for two okay but not great bullpen guys. It's not like they got Andrew Miller but even more so, it's not like they're World Series contender.

Julio Teheran is such bullshit. Definitely not worth trading him now that his value is depleted.

I like Sandy thinking about next year. Would love to sign reed next year too and do reed familia and Ramos

The Mets are super dumb, giving up merandy for AJ Ramos was wayyyy too much. Sandy needs to retire. He's done nothing but make bad moves. If they don't at least get something for Reed, that would be even worse.

The Score this morning: dodgers don't want to give up top prospects, will instead bargain bin shop instead of big names.

the Score right now: dodgers still looking into gray and darvish sources say.

i think its a good move. the mets bullpen has been garbage for a while now. they gotta turn one of their starters into a releiver too

Why is it a good move to give up a top 5 farm system player for a mid tier reliever who's only controllable for one more year when you have a garbage team this year and are going nowhere?

top 5? I havent seen that anywhere.

Yeah those guys were 9 and 22 in the Mets system, a system that is known to be weak.

I presume they will re-sign Reed and Familia will be healthy next year. That's a p good 7th to 9th inning.

Also an excellent move by the Twins moving Garcia. Eating a bit of salary for prospects is something the old front office would never do
