The more I reflect on it, the more strange that Colton Sissons contract becomes. Not really sure what either side was thinking.

Apparently Eric Staal vetoed a trade to Boston at the deadline. Not complaining because Johansson was great, but having him at 3c and Coyle on Krejci's wing could have been big

I know Shattenkirk is a shell of himself but buying out him over Staal seems dumb

Also it seems like yesterday that he was extremely coveted

 

There must be some reason to keep staal, I'm just not seeing it.

The Devils' "window" is the next 3 years while Hughes is on a cheap contract though...assuming he is as good as we all think he could be.

meh no thanks. He had his shot to sign in NJ 2 years ago and chose the Rangers. Thankfully we signed Butcher a month later so that worked out.

Plus, we already have too many RHD and too many offensive minded DMen anyways. What we need is a defensive minded LHD.
