Is Borgman any good? Schmaltz has shown flashes but always looked kind of timid/nervous when he got in.

 

My good brain says that Borgman regressed after being sent down to the AHL following his initial stint with the Leafs two years ago. But my dumb brain says that Borgman is a solid man who throws hard checks. His wont to throw a hard hit often pushes him out of position and he makes dumb plays at times, but I thought he was a solid, smooth skater.

 

Thanks for the info. He won’t likely won’t ply over any of our six so we’ll see how it goes.

I was going to say how borgman is an actual NHL player so that's an upgrade over the former

Friendly reminder just about any big hit intends to injure, discussing semantics after realizing there's an injury is pointless.

 

You took what I said about Borgman out of context. He's not that player. He's the new NHL defence man who still likes throwing hits because he's a big, strong dude. The hit in the video isn't anywhere near a borderline hit

I don’t like giving goalies a crazy amount of money because goaltending is voodoo. That being said it only ends when he’s 32 and who knows what the cap will be like by then?

Either way the only bad contract on their books is Callahan (maybe Gourde) so it shouldn’t be too hard for them to clear cap space
