When you're on a rebuilding team you have to give at least slightly more, it's really a fair deal for both IMO.

I feel like he could've asked for more and just went to FA instead, seems like he wanted to be there and you had to give a little more. It's only 7yrs, there's no way the cap doesn't rise enough in half of that to make it seem like less of a big deal.
