What is the background of his time with Boston? And I guess to a lesser extent Calgary? Like, why was he so disliked? When the Canes traded for him I heard so much about him not being the greatest teammate and not being a good locker room guy or whatever. Is that stuff true? If so, did he just decide to be a completely different person in Carolina? Because ever since he’s been with the Canes he’s been nothing but great on and off the ice. Everyone on the team, the front office, the fans...everyone loves him.
and bruins got a PP goal because their dude skated backwards and ran into a Canes player and the ref gave a penalty win is a win
from everything that was reported, he is just kind of a unique guy and enjoys going to museums and shit rather than partying with the boys which is why he was "disliked" in the locker room I guess but who knows
Maybe you should worry more about how the canes did worse on the PP with the same number of chances Or how they're not driving play like they did against NY. Because you know, Boston is an actual NHL caliber team. Or how they're hoping top six forwards for Boston continue being hurt Or how the tandem of mrazek and Reimer will somehow outperform Rask But ya the refs, that's the problem.
He's a nerd. Boston shunning him doesn't surprise me, they're idiots about maintaining some kind of locker room culture.Look at Seguin. Calgary I don't get it.
I mean, we won the game. Is it going to be harder than it was against the Rangers? Yes. Not sure why that is even brought up. Obviously this series is going to be tough to win. Obviously there is a ton to worry about with that team. Doesn’t mean I can’t be mad at the refs being shit.
Just like with Seguin, Kessel, and Thornton before him, a smear campaign started almost immediately after he was traded from Boston. He was an “uppity” kid, didn’t party with the boys or whatever. The big rumor was that he was upset with Boston for not trading for his brother lmao.
From a Boston perspective, these players tend to get dragged when they refuse the contract extension. Cherrywaves mentioned the hit pieces coming out after each of these players left, which is true, but I don’t think fans necessarily bought into that. Hamilton and Kessel got it a lot worse than Thornton and Seguin because the prevailing story is that they didn’t want to be here: that an offer was made and they weren’t interested, where as the latter two were (stupidly) pushed out by management.
Also for what it’s worth Hamilton and Kessel not wanting to be here were unsubstantiated media narratives. There may be some truth to Hamilton not wanting to be here, but IIRC Kessel and Krejci were RFA at the time, and Kessel wanted more than what Krejci agreed to, so he got shipped out instead
Philly had their chance with the five on three but price did price things. Hart was fine, team didn't show up
Philly getting upset by Montreal after looking like a contender for the first time in damn near a decade would simultaneously be the most Philly sports thing ever, and would also incredibly frustrating
