Well they argued that he had possession of the puck but not control, not sure what the difference is on that and the NHL does not give good guidance on the difference in terms of goalies (if it’s even in the rule book at all idk lol)
Possession indicates he is the person with the puck, but control, at least in goaltending terms, would mean that the puck is secure and the play can be blown dead. However, he clearly didn't have it under control judging from what happened. But if the play had been blown dead by the refs right at that moment, that would have been an absurdly early whistle. Especially if Ritchie (or whoever) finished the play as we see it, and it still came loose simultaneously with the whistle... we'd be hearing endless complaints from Bruins fans of how that was a major fuck up, haha.
It’s just flat-out how they like to play. They have zero interest in actually creating their own offensive chances. They want to defend for 60 minutes, and hope you make a mistake for Grabner to score a breakaway shorty. If you’re a dumb team, it works.
Honestly shocked his victory lap isn’t with the Hawks so the team media can talk about he HAS WHAT IT TAKES to win a Cup
seeing the Myers-Sanheim pairing in Philly makes me really hope NJ goes after Sanderson in the draft they are similar types of players
goddamn. 266 playoff games for Chelios? Jesus, even if you played in a 7-game series all four rounds that would be over 9 years worth of games. Just in the playoffs.
I just hope Myers doesn't eat a puck like Lapy. Some of the dives he's making are incredible on the back check. I just worry he is setting himself up for a bad one.
