Maatta is apparently not as bad as I thought and just came off maybe his best season? And he's still only like 24? Thought he was way older for some reason. Definitely cap clear for the pens but like, kahun is pretty okay and will do even better on the pens so it seems like kind of a fine trade. Bigger question is what defense are the pens getting to replace him? lol do they really think Jack Johnson and gudbranson are gonna be like, respectable all of the sudden? Yikes
Only if big players can also be fast players otherwise that ain’t gonna work. And either way this isn’t gonna be a new trend. Too many younger, faster players dominate the league these days (which is a great thing)

I haven’t followed his past few seasons but I always really loved Maata. I also wanted him on the Sharks badly.
I think that’s the thing a lot of these pundits don’t get. Having big, physical players isn’t inherently antiquated, but they also have to be skilled and move faster than a granite slab. If forced to choose between physicality and skill, you choose the latter every time.
I actually think it’s going to happen. I have a feeling, which could be gas but either way I have a feeling.
