I guess drafting project players is a sign thay they're actually interested in developing their draft picks instead of rushing them to the NHL? That's the most charitable way I can spin it.

Best thing is, he'll be ready to play right away. He only needs to stay one more year than a prospect would normally to be ready. He's the 3rd best prospect in this draft.

Cons: he might legitimately never come to the NHL, and if he does he'll be on the rangers or some random Russia friendly team in like 2024. Canucks have had the worst luck with Russians since tryamkin left (he sucked).
