Shero was interviewed during the 1st intermission and basically said they never had contract talks with Hall and they didn't really ever consider signing him to a longterm deal

    interesting.

Basically what trading Hall means. It's more of a continuation of their old rebuild because Lou left that team in such a hellhole with no prospects (made worse by Shero whiffing on that Zacha pick). I don't blame Shero for adding Hall since it only cost them Larsson & it didn't really hurt their rebuild thanks to the two lotteries. It just seemed like the whole Taylor Hall era was a waste of time since all it got them was one playoff win. Some of that is bad luck with Schneider's health falling off a cliff & Hall getting injured last year but idk. It should have accelerated their rebuild & they kind of just accepted being bad until this year & those moves backfired.

Devils need to invest all their shit into finding a goalie

That's it. Everything else will be fine.

Comrie has been bad in Winnipeg, he was bad in Detroit. I still don’t understand the point of trading for a #3 goaltender in the first place only to lose him on waivers right after. I truly thought they planned to play the long game with Comrie, especially knowing Howard is likely done after this year. Maybe Yzerman knew it was a gamble and decided that he was fine with freeing up a contract in the worst case scenario. Still, seems like a trade that didn’t need to happen.
