While the Hossa skin condition may not have been made up, it’s certainly no coincidence that it became too much to play through once his total earnings per year plummeted and Chicago needed cap relief. Same could be said for Callahan and his back issues.

Any of these guys who have been playing for 10+ years could walk into a doctor’s office and leave with a totally legitimate recommendation from a doctor that they should never play another game of professional hockey for the sake of their lifelong health.

Yet there are likely players on all of our teams playing with concussions if not worse. May end up with CTE or something down the road.
