Why are you so religiously determined to be wrong about Running Backs? Literally, the Rams you cite are finding out the hard way what a Running Back with a big contract looks like.

I like that Randall's take is to pay everyone millions of dollars and Matt's take is to pay no one and let them play for exposure

Matt would have rookie players sell presales for games

It helps to have a good HC, decent QB, good OL, great WRs, Aaron Donald, and a solid secondary as well, but sure let’s pretend paying Gurley all that money is the reason that team is still in contention for a super bowl despite CJ Anderson performing well in the same system down the stretch

Leading Rusher - Cap Hit In Millions

Ezekiel Elliott - 6.8 (Rookie Deal)
Saquon Barkley - 5.6 (Rookie Deal)
Todd Gurley - 7.2 (First Year Of Extension)
Joe Mixon - 1.2 (Rookie Deal)
    Chris Carson .57
Christian McCaffrey - 3.9 (Rookie Deal)
    Derrick Henry - 1.47
    Adrian Peterson .63
    Phillip Lindsay - .48
Nick Chubb - 1.34 (Rookie Deal)
    James Conner - .75
Lamar Miller - 6.75 (Boy are the Texans Dumb)
David Johnson - 5.0 (First Year Of Extension)
    Jordan Howard .70
Sony Michel - 1.75 (Rookie Deal & Should Have Been Super Bowl MVP)
    Marlon Mack - .66
Melvin Gordon - 3.39 (Rookie Deal)
    Alvin Kamara - .88
    Peyton Barber - .63

Here are your top rushers from last year. Literally, none of them (except Lamar) are any further than the first year of an extension and most are on rookie or cheap as fuck deals. This is the clearest definition of dime a dozen lol. Peyton Barber was an actually useful human. Who knew? The idea of paying 10+ million for a RB is INSANE.

Honestly, looking at this, I'm starting to adjust my never draft a running back plan. Maybe it's okay to draft them, ride them like fucking crazy during that cheap ass contract and then let em walk. Still should draft a stud QB over a RB though :-p

Would like to add that there's a lot of talk that Gurley won't be able to be on the field nearly as much since his injury

    Nope. Prestigious

Todd Gurley is the reason that team is any good on offense and CJ Anderson's small sample size in that system doesn't mean shit, especially when week 16 was against the worst team in the league, the Arizona Cardinals, and week 17, the second worst team in the league, the San Francisco 49ers. I'll give him the playoff game against the Cowboys but he was nonexistent vs. NO and NE

So was Gurley haha. I'd rather pay the vet minimum for non-existent than 14 million.

I'm thankful the Eagles have an awesome o line so they don't have dish out top money for a RB.

The Rams are going to regret that Gurley contract even more when his cap hit nearly doubles next year at the same time that they need to determine Goff's contract, as well what to do with Whitworth, Peters, Talib, and Fowler, among other free agents and those whose contracts they have potential outs from or can cut cheaply like Woods, Weddle, and Matthews
