I’m 95% here, but I don’t think this thread has acknowledged how crappy the timing is. He doesn’t owe me anything personally, but I feel bad for the team being put in this situation two weeks before the season starts.

I don’t think they found out last night, but I also don’t think they would have been using Luck in walkthroughs as recently as last week if they knew he was retiring. I also think they’d have something better than Chad Kelly and Phillip Walker on the roster behind Brissett if they knew reasonably soon.

My guess is they found out Monday and that’s why Reich had his sudden change of heart about resting starters in the preseason game

trade 2020 2nd and 2021 2nd for Melvin Gordon

Regardless, not enough time to plan around it, draft/sign a replacement, have a competition for the job, or set up contingencies other than hoping for the best with Brissett

That Lt. Luck retiring tweet was sad

 

Finally watched Luck’s press conference in full. What a class act all the way. Love seeing the outpouring of respect from everyone who knew him.

 

Pretty much the end of his career too. Gonna be 29 coming off major knee surgery and in free agency...probably signs some 1yr prove it deal and retires by 2021 or so.

 

They might have the worst QB situation of any team in the league...and they're the 3rd highest spending team at the position. They are actually the most expensive offense in the league (also 1st in TE, 6th in O-line), and are almost certainly gonna finish in the bottom 3 in offense.

The ineptitude is kind of amazing.
