Also, Mad Men is the greatest show ever. I meant to include that at the end of that post.

 

This is my first rewatch/full watch (i've missed some episodes in seasons six and seven) and I'm inclined to agree with that statement now.

 

It's good but it's not the wire sorry

 

I've lost count but I think it's around 5 or so at this point. It truly gets better every time. So many little great moments that you forget. Even the little glances and music cues are brilliant.

 

No way is mad men better than Breaking Bad. No chance.

 

The Wire was extremely well made and realistic to real life but it was so depressing and cyclical that I just couldn't fall in love with it.

 

Breaking Bad is a great, entertaining show but I don't think it has the depth, nuance, or maturity of Mad Men.

 

The Sopranos and the Wire are the only two I'd put on Mad Men's level.

 

I'm not done mad men but it will probably slot in around 4 or 5 in my favorite dramas

 

You literally NEVER hang out in this thread. I don’t even know if you have a football team. Is it the Broncos? I may be remembering g this correctly.

I’m on my second watch through of this show and I just do not see the magic. It’s good. There’s so many things I’d personally put above it. To each their own and whatnot. I just don’t see it.

 

I could never get into Mad Men if I am being honest

sidenote- this season of Black Mirror fucking stunk

 

I love that Jason INSTANTLY responded to that Mad Men comment. Like he has a word alert on his site for Mad Men slander.

 

It’s not even slander! I’ve said Mad Men is good. All I’m saying is maybe I just don’t “get” it. I don’t find it complex or mature or whatever. I just cheer for Joan to burn the building down with everyone inside.

 

Joan is literally like the only one I support. On this re-watch I’m realizing that Ken Cosgrove is the only like, kinda decent person.

 

Ken is the best.

Not that my $3-$5 matters that much to you compared to everyone elses. I just think it'd be cool if you hopped in on this hahaha

 

I'd have to really give it some thought but I think Joan and Peggy are the only two who never did anything morally reprehensible. Ken was a dick in the early seasons but he eventually became a good dude as the show progressed. Unless I'm forgetting something about any of those characters, I think they're it, as far as main characters.

Everyone else ranges from being a dickhead to an outright awful person, but they're so incredibly acted and written that I think they're pretty much all brilliant in their own ways.
