I write a new cover letter for every job I apply to. It puts my resume in context of the position. Also shows off writing skills which are important when you have to write at work.

I'm great at writing resumes because I took classes on it, which is dumb because I don't even really need them for my current field of work.

I learned how to play "Traces" by Built to Spill tonight and also discovered Meat Puppets, a post-punk band I'm fascinated by.

I used to think about being an accountant because I was pretty good at math back in the day. Then in 11th grade, my math teacher talked about how he hated being an accountant and only did it for the money, and how boring it was. And I was like wow, if accounting is too boring for this guy, and teaching math is exciting, then I need a different path

 

I stopped liking math when it stopped coming easily to me, but I wish I would have stuck with it. Always have been really into architecture and kinda regret not pursuing that career. Anyway, now I have this communications degree that everyone takes very seriously

 

I'm going to need some proof on that... The chicken kind of looks like some guy I saw on a Texans broadcast at one point.

 

Haha, this is basically me in a nutshell as well. Math wizard until about 10th/11th grade. Then I found videography and didnt feel like trying that hard in math.

That said, I'd have hated a lot of engineering programs in college. And I enjoyed my film program. I could be making more money the other way but there's little value in spending 1/3rd of my life unhappy.

 

What are you doing in film, if you don't mind me asking?

 

Accounting is less math, more rules

 

Remember when teachers said we wouldn't have calculators in our pockets growing up so we needed to learn all these useless math? Good times

 

thank God we learned about shit like derivatives in school and not how to do our taxes or how a mortgage works

 

Have you seen mike from run the jewels show where he tries to teach elementary school kids how to do odd jobs? That shit was dumb

I was the weird bird kid who enjoyed calculus. Got a 5 on my AP calculus exam in high school and never had to take a single math class in college. Except statistics. And I hated statistics cause it wasn’t conceptual like calculus, you actually just had to memorize the hundreds of formulas. I used to be able to think my way through a calculus problem so going back to painstaking algebra was bunk

 

We only had to do geometry and two years of algebra in high school in order to graduate. And classes learning about "real life" skills had little to no application to 90% of actual real life. I swear they were intended for people who didn't have to work to live.

Shit is pathetic.

I don't get how anyone can watch a player like Zeke or Gurley and read this kind of analysis and think it's a valid reason to have them outside of your top 10 RB performances of 2018. They're arguably the #1 and #2 best running backs in the league and they have players like Derrick Henry ranked that high? Haha, this site is the worst.

I don't care if their specific analysis makes sense for rating them both that low, there is no argument in my mind that holds water that they shouldn't at the very least be ranked in the top ten.

 

I was annoyed with calculus in high school and probably had one of the worst grades in the class. I think the teacher didn't even like me. I got a 5 on the AP Calculus exam. I wish I could've seen my teacher's face when she saw that.
