Military brought me to the PNW in 2004. When I got out in 2009, I thought about leaving but loved it here so much that I decided to stick it out.

I was broke as hell as a college student and in a region as expensive as the PNW, it suuuuuucked.

But my wife and I built our home in 2014 and in just five years, we’ve got about 265K in positive equity in our home just due to skyrocketing property values (we are about 20mi from Downtowns Seattle)

Great place/region if you make it work until you can establish yourself and get setup with a good paying career.

Guess we'll just be Ubering. But that's cool, I'm visiting in September and am pretty amped. Also want to visit Atlanta on that trip and catch the Falcons/Eagles game. Trying to figure out if there's any other good spots in between Atlanta/Nashville and Philly that I'd want to visit. Know of any?

  3. you can stop in Lynchburg and visit Jack Daniels

Well you gotta see the Smoky Mountains & Asheville NC while you're down here, for SURE.

Also I will be living in Atlanta in a month and a half so I'll update you on that.

@SEANoftheDEAD Skyline Drive in Virginia & Blue Ridge Parkway in NC are the best mountaintop drives & views, and there's all kinds of short and long hiking trails that branch off of that, including the Appalachian Trail. Some of them lead to waterfalls or overpasses and are good short 1-2 mile hikes.

Bitch I've LIVED in more cool places than you dead ass hahaha

DC, Baltimore AND Hawaii if you don't like Jax. Denver & Charlotte is pretty cool but DC & Hawaii takes the cake

Last one: Great Falls National Park, MD if you're stopping in the DC area. Hiking on cliffs of the Potomac river. But also take the time to enjoy DC cause it's a hell of a city.

Most def....I've never been to Great Falls but have been to D.C. about a dozen times. I live 2 hours away so between field trips as a kid and getting piss drunk there as an adult...I love D.C. haha

Dallas transportation is getting better but it's still pretty bad IMO

Hawaii and DC are two of the three hardest places to live in the country. Pass

Soooooo many people and not enough quality and efficient public transportation options is a huge problem in DFW.

Jax still had me and the smaller touring bands that I like haha. You always try to keep up with smaller bands but just assumed everyone in Jax would be shit or something. When actually North/Central Florida does at least have a lot of technical math rock and emo that gets booked, which is stuff that you like.

Shit, you could have experienced Daikaiju with me when Nighthawks first opened. Now you love that band. I saw them live at a way better spot than Jack Rabbits. But you'll only remember Jax by the blandest music venue they have lol

because it's weird to have these arguments but then you're not gonna actually be real about what your real life preferences are with the people you interact with IRL haha. Online @CarpetElf loves driving but actual Matt would rather only drive 1-2 days a week. I lived with you, and me and you talk about your daily life regularly, and nothing indicates that you like to drive or are motivated to have a daily commute with a car.

That's not a highway? And it's terribly inefficient and people still drive aggressively and unsafe? So that makes me further question why you hate highways hahaha

Yeah like we've KINDA expanded in Dallas with DART going to more places and being pretty useable but our bus system ain't great and it's just SO sprawling that we have the issue of connecting Dallas to Fort Worth and Dallas to Arlington etc etc and it's just not possible to be used for regular commute

My 21st birthday and the two years after that were spent getting drunk and lit up in DC and in the area of Shenandoah National Park. I wouldn't go back because there were a lot of growing pains, but those were also some of the greatest experiences of my life haha.

I still follow stuff. You've sent me some of the bands you think are the best from Jax too. I follow the Orlando scene closely too. Far better.

Ill remember jax for what it is haha

    Daily commute =/= driving

That is definitely a highway. Not east bound, west bound across the river
