Yo the chicken bryan at carrabas is pretty dope

 

I knew I should have snagged some extra tickets when I had the chance :(

 

This was my favorite restaurant dish as a kid and that's why I've worked at Carrabba's a lot.

They have gone DOWWWWNNNHILLLLLL. Food quality is not even a shadow of what it once was.

 

Jax's main problem is that a lot of actual "downtown" is deteriorated & out of date. The people that live here don't even go there to do things aside from Artwalk once a month. Most of the fun of the city is out in neighborhoods (especially the beaches.)

So it looks worse than it is.

But for example I just went to the zoo the other day though and I can hands down say Jax zoo is WAY better than D.C.'s zoo or Baltimore's zoo. It's out between downtown and the airport in a really weird area but then it's amazing inside. That's one of the better things in town, damn it's been vamped up SO MUCH since I was a kid.

Buffalo's subway runs only under/along Main St. Plus the weather.

 

Buffalo is one of the ones I consider worse haha.

 

Here's a very legit reason @CarpetElf hated Jax though, cause he doesn't like to drive

Jax mass transit basically doesn't exist aside from bus. And bus is really inefficient because Jax is VERY spread out, it's not like you can use it like a city bus. You basically need a car here or you feel trapped.

 

Randall thinks I hate jax because i only hung out with coworkers. Doesnt think that maybe I only hung out with coworkers BECAUSE i hated Jax lol.

No, I'm pretty sure the only way that would be true is if you experienced a lot of things and then started doing that. You never even dipped your toes in the water man.

Cities with bad or non existent transportation systems in the year 2019 blow my mind

 

I actually did though haha. I'm also very well traveled and researched. Jax is not good haha

 

I mean, it's partially because you can't build subways in swampy soil

But it's mostly because Jax is spread out and not very connected, so there's no light rail or anything like that that would make sense without being really costly for the city

 

I have literally slept in my car in a Walmart parking lot Huntsville, Alabama because I was bored and wanted to drive and didnt feel like stopping until I was in Tennessee and realized I should probably turn around.

 

To be fair the buildings and such in Buffalo have made big strides in the last few years. But the transportation situation...that all begins with Albany and let's just say the state government could fuck up a wet dream

 

I'm pretty sure the only music venue you saw was Jack Rabbits. For a huge music lover who made a list of 2-3 shows per week you wanted to see in Denver, that's really showing you didn't make an effort. That's just one example. I remember less beach days or just days making a trip to St Augustine than I can count on one hand. You went to the worst Jags game I've been to since I've been here.

 

Pittsburgh has a bad transit system. My only real knock on the city.

 

These are one off instances but generally you are anxious about and avoid driving it's kinda weird seeing you deny it now

Has anyone been to Nashville? Hows their public transportation?

 

Also terrible. This is the only thing about Nashville that doesn't feel "big city", though. Other than that, my experience with Nashville is that it feels way bigger than it is & keeps up with modern development. Metro population is similar to Jax but urban-wise it DWARFS Jax
